Universal Studio

The Universal Studio of Singapore is located in the Sentosa island of Singapore and is the first universal studio theme park of Southeast Asia. The park has an area of about 49 acres and has a total of 24 major attractions. The park is built on the base of many themes from famous movies such as Madagascar, Shrek, The Lost World etc. other themes of the park also includes Ancient Egypt, Far Far away, New York, Hollywood and the Sci-fi city.

The theme park was opened to the public in the year of 2010 after two rigorous years of planning and construction that began in the year of 2008.

The park with its themed zones for entertainment and over 30 restaurants to choose from incase you get hungry is one of the best places to visit in Singapore. Some of the best known themed zones where entertainment, excitement and energy meets are:-

New York- this themed zone seems to be carved right out of the “big apple” and placed here. This zone has been built in the light of the post modern period of the city and has most of the famed things that a movie based in New York is made of. Some of the best known things that one can get to see here in this part of the park are the New York Public Library with its grand statutes of two lions at the entrance, neon lights, side walks, the city skyline etc.

Sci-Fi City- the zone is an imaginary look of the modern world where technology has taken over everything. The zone is a really great one to visit especially due to the colossal dueling roller coasters that go by the name of Battlestar Galactica which is a television episode that was a great hit. The dueling coasters are named as the human and cylon after the hit TV series. The sci-fi city also has other rides to boast about such as the Transformers ride, Accelerator etc. The zone also has retail stores that sell merchandise from the famed movie transformers.

The Lost World- built in the light of the pre historic times where dinosaurs once ruled the earth and the movie Lost world this place is truly out of the past. It is further divided into the Jurassic park and Waterworld. The Jurassic park takes its innovation from Steven Spielberg’s movie while Waterworld is based on the movie Waterworld in which Kevin Costner starred. The rides here are really great and to name a few they are Canopy flyer, Jurassic park rapids adventure, Amber rock climb, Dino Soarin’.

Far Far Away- this zone seems to have been built keeping n mind the animated movie Shrek that was blockbuster. The place with its towering castle, Shrek’s swamp, enchanted airways, magic potion spin, Shrek 4-D adventure makes it a really enjoyable place for kids and adults as well.
